GUEmap Development

Registered users of GUEmap 1.x can also use development releases of GUEmap 2 until it's finished. The development releases are time-limited, and usually expire a few months after their release. Once version 2.0 is released, you'll have to upgrade or return to version 1. (Of course, people who bought a lifetime license will get 2.0 free.)

If you would like to be notified when new releases are available, please send mail to me with a subject of "subscribe GUEmap 2 announcements". (Registered users of version 1 do not receive these announcements unless they request them.)

Current Releases

Development releases will come in two flavors. Experimental releases are hot off the compiler and may have partially implemented features (not to mention brand new bugs). After it's been out a while with no problems, an experimental release may be reclassified Stable. If you want new features with minimum chance of getting hit by a bug, stick with stable releases. If you want to help out with the testing, and get the very latest features, try an experimental release.

Experimental: There are no experimental releases at the moment.
Stable: GUEmap 2.0 rc 1 (476k) (September 14, 2007)

You can now zoom in and out while editing the map.
* GUEmap 2 alpha 6 -- January 23, 1999
Finally! Something really new!
I've decided to go with a less ambitious new display engine. The map size is now 273 x 455. This isn't as big as I had planned, but should be large enough for any maps anyone's likely to want. (It's about 6.5 pages wide by 8.5 pages high, or more than 50 times the area of GUEmap 1.)
* GUEmap 2 alpha 5 -- December 19, 1998
Minor update to alpha 4 to provide a stable version while I work on the new display engine.
* GUEmap 2 alpha 4 -- May 19, 1998
Updates alpha 3 with the changes from version 1.01
* GUEmap 2 alpha 3 -- April 14, 1998
Reduced the map size to 51 x 86, which is the maximum Windows 95 can handle before it throws up its little hands and says "I can't count that high!" If you're using NT, you can stick with alpha 2. Maps from alpha 2 can be loaded by alpha 3, if they aren't bigger than 51 x 86.
* GUEmap 2 alpha 2 -- April 13, 1998
Fixed Comments dialog (broken in alpha 1)
* GUEmap 2 alpha 1 -- April 11, 1998
First alpha release of GUEmap 2.
Increases the map size from 42x53 to 500x500 and the room limit from 255 to 65535. This should be enough for most maps. :-) Note that you can only print the upper left corner of the map. (This will be fixed before version 2.0, but I don't know when.)
Planned Features

There are no additional features planned for version 1. I will fix bugs if necessary, and I may add some minor features, but all significant new features will go into version 2. Features are listed more or less in the order I plan to implement them.

* For version 2.0

* For subsequent versions
